NBA OPEN FOR TBS

    For this intricate NBA open for TBS, we traveled across the country and into Canada to shoot such NBA greats as Shaquille O'Neal, Kobe Bryant, Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Vince Carter, and Alan Iverson. Over several months, we shot on location in Miami, Toronto, New York, LA, Boston, Houston, Phoenix, Detroit, and Salt Lake City.
    With the open, which takes place in a seemingly fully functional NASA-like mission control center and on the streets of a large, nameless city, we tried to convey the feeling that the NBA on TBS is the biggest, most thrilling show on earth.
We're proud not only of the technical challenges we overcame, but of the performances we got from the players in the limited time we had to work with them.
    The 50x48x18 control room, which features four tiers of computer console workstations, 40 monitors, and 3 large plasma screens, was built at the Triple Horse scenic shop, took eight carpenters over six weeks to construct and was so huge there were few stages in the South that could accommodate it.
